Ok, lets get one thing straight, I don’t normally call myself a fanboy. Why? Because it assumes that I am somewhat of a corporate sell out… there I said it. However, for my beloved Borderlands… I am anything it want’s me to be!
As you can probably tell by my Instagram post earlier My shrine to Pandora (mini-blog post) it is taking pride of place in my life at the moment. Given that this edition of Borderlands sold out within 48 hours of its announcement I thought I would pass on some love and show everyone what it actually contained, and how the material actually looks. I will be using the came case for scale in the pictures.
First of all it came in a pretty kick ass box with some great art. The box itself contained two sections, the top thinner section contained much of the promotional material, the steel case and the games itself. The larger lower section contained the loot chest, which opened to the bobble head Marcus.
My edition came with a few extra DLC codes which were included, some of which were pre-order bonuses. It came with the Creature Slaughter Dome [Preorder Bonus] (Video below); Premium Club DLC (New character class, vault hunter’s relic, golden key and gearbox gunpack); Deluxe DLC (Contraband Sky Rocket Grenade, Character skins and heads)
One of the things I loved about this edition is it gives you the choice between using the stock standard case or the steel case… it gives you both! Awesome! It reminds of when Gears of War 3 was released last year and the collectors editions were lumbered with that awful looking data disk case. I’m sure some people loved it, but I just like a normal looking case! Anyway, kudos on the choice Gearbox!
Here’s the actual loot chest, it’s actually pretty decent in size. I feared it was going to be small. If I had to criticize something it would be it feels pretty cheap, if you dropped it there wouldn’t be much left of it. The button in the middle actually unlocks the chest which was an awesome idea!
Housed inside the loot chest was the Marcus Bobble Head toy, I haven’t opened it for obvious reasons, but it is a lot smaller than what I thought it would be.
Four Borderlands 2 stickers were included. Love the Minion on Board!
Glossy paper chart outlining much of the enemies on Pandora, looks extremely detailed!
Both books, especially the latter have some awesome artwork! A lot of love has gone into the creation of these two items [can’t post pics of inside due to copyright ]
Cute little post card pack and Certificate of Authenticity…
To finish out the loot chest there was a cloth map of Pandora… I love the cloth map idea, most maps with games come as a fold out glossy page, which is annoying and I never use anyway (I’m anal about damaging my gaming stuff). Not sure if I’d still use it, but it would be cool to hang next to my Xbox!
